Hailing from Europe: The Dog Park European Dogs Expansion Pack

Twenty-nine dogs of the finest dogs from Europe feature in the Dog Park: Famous Dogs Expansion pack. Find out which countries they come from below.

Finnish Spitz dog card

Finnish Spitz

Finland. Did you know they were established as the national dog of Finland in 1812?

Brittany 

France. In France they carry the name Epagneul Bretton, which means The Brittany Spaniel.  

Spaniel (Welsh Springer)

Wales, United Kingdom. It is believed that the Welsh hunting dog recorded in the Middle Ages contributed to the Welsh Springer's bloodline. 

Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla

Hungary. While bred on the Vizsla that hail from Hungary, they are also descended from the German Wirehaired Pointer.

Retriever (Curly Coated)

United Kingdom. It is thought that they are related to the now extinct English Water Spaniel. 

Small Munsterlander 

Germany. Like their cousins the Large Munsterlander, they were developed in Germany. 

Basset Bleu De Gascogne 

France. The Basset breeds hail from France and the Basset Bleu De Gascogne is no exception. 

Dachshund (Miniature Long Haired)

Germany. In their native Germany they are known as Teckel, which means badger dog. 

Hamiltonstovare

Sweden. They were developed by Count Hamilton, who was the founder of the Swedish Kennel Club. 

Basset Griffon Vendeen (Grand)

France. Like all Basset breeds, they hail from France. 

Swedish Lapphund

Sweden. Did you know they are the national breed of Sweden?

Hungarian Puli

Hungary. Like other Hungarian dogs recognized by the UK Kennel Club, they are descended from Hungarian herding dogs. 

Pyrenean Sheepdog (Long Haired)

France. Although they are largely associated with France, they were developed across the Pyrenees that also spans Spain. 

Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois)

Belgium. There are records of shepherd dogs of this type in Belgium dating back to the Middle Ages. 

Catalan Sheepdog 

Spain. They are believed to hail from Northeast Spain. 

Norfolk Terrier

United Kingdom. Only recognised as a breed in their own right in 1964, the Norfolk Terrier used to be shown as a Norwich Terrier. The difference between the two breeds are their ears. The Norfolk's ears are dropped while the Norwich's are pricked.  

Glen of Imaal Terrier

Ireland. This native Irish breed was developed in County Wicklow.  

Cesky Terrier

Czech Republic. Did you know they are the national dog of the Czech Republic? 

Welsh Terrier

Wales, United Kingdom. An early name for this breed was the Welsh Black and Tan Rough Coated Terrier.  

Russian Toy

Russia. Originally bred as a watch dog and to despatch vermin, they were very popular in Russia in the early 1900s. 

Bolognese

Italy. They take their name from the Italian city of Bologna. 

King Charles Spaniel

United Kingdom. They were developed in the UK by miniaturising sporting Spaniels. 

Poodle (Miniature)

Germany and France. While it is believed that larger Poodles were bred in Germany, the smaller breeds were developed in France. 

German Spitz (Mittel)

Germany. Developed in Germany, it is thought they are descended from Viking dogs. 

Miniature Schnauzer 

Germany. The original, larger sized Schnauzer hails from Germany with records dating back to the 14th century. The Miniature variety was first officially recorded in 1888. 

Kooikerhondje

Netherlands. They were developed in the Netherlands to assist in the hunting of ducks. 

Portuguese Water Dog

Portugal. It is thought that they are descended from water dogs of the Mediterranean. 

Pyrenean Mastiff 

Spain. It is believed they were developed between Aragon and Navarra. 

Mastiff

United Kingdom. Once known as the Old English Mastiff, they are a well established British breed.
