Just more of what I expected, great expansion.
A wonderful, tactile game with premium hardware and delightful game play. It deserves a spot on everyone’s shelf.
Fun game for the whole family!
This was a Christmas gift for a friend who is a gamer and volunteers at an animal shelter. We've only played it once but it was easy to figure out the game play and we had lots of fun with it. Quality product and consruction.
Fun game.
Involves Pattern building
Card drafting and
Resource Drafting.
Plus the theme is getting dogs to their Forever Homes.
It’s very quick and easy to learn to play and play.
Fun game, great art, and great packaging. My wife and I have played a few times now and we really enjoy it. The game has a good balance of strategy and luck. The cards available at the beginning of the game, the cards available for purchase during the game, and some game objectives are randomly determined. But, the game does a good job of giving players some hard choices when bidding for cards, and choosing how to navigate the "Walking" phase of your turn.
Because of the amount of unique cards, randomly determined objectives, and bonus objectives determined by each player, every game is going to be different than the last. For two-player games a third "auto-walker" adds an element of randomness to simulate another player. This mechanic gives two-player games enough variability that you cannot just focus on thwarting your opponent, or blindly following your own plan.
To anyone who has seen this game compared to Wingspan: Dog Park is absolutely not "Wingspan with dogs." I saw this description several times and disagree. There are dozens and dozens of beautifully drawn unique dog cards with their own mechanics and " resource price to play" and players can gain points based on randomly determined dog types. But, the similarities stop there. There is less randomness in Dog Park because the resource pool is not determined by dice. The bidding system makes acquiring new cards more interesting than just drawing from the deck. Also, each turn is comprised of multiple phases that always repeat unlike Wingspan where players decide on what kind of turn they are going to take. Point being, we own both Wingspan and Dog Park and feel like they are very different games. That being said, if you like Wingspan you will probably enjoy Dog Park!
I originally was draw to the game because of the greyhounds in it and quickly realized that it was just my type of game. I played the solo mode first and found it simple to play but enjoyable. Then, I did a few games with other people and found it to be just as fun. The fun of trying to get the right balance of dogs and cards is entertaining. Nice, relaxing game that will certainly be one I pull out often and not just for the sweet dogs!
I adore this game, it is quickly becoming one of my favorite entry level board games. I could easily teach this game to any of my friends, while also being crunchy enough to keep my more experienced friends engaged. Birdwood Games is absolutely killing it with these 2 games so far and I am excited to see what is next!
While my wife and I adore Dog Park, we enjoyed Forever Home even more. I feel that the gameplay mechanics are a bit more chewy while also somehow being even easier to learn. I can teach any of my friends to play this game without any needed experience. At this point we will be getting any game that Birdwood comes out with :)
I can't comment on this board game fully because it is a Christmas present. However I am sure my granddaughter will love it because it is so unusual .
It looks a good quality item for animal lovers.
Not opened yet as Xmas present
This game is a perfect intro game to new board gamers!! I love playing many board games and this is a great gateway game to show new players. Specially if they're dog people. I'm a cat person but this game is just so dang cute. 5/5 for me.
I bought this game due to solo play (plus, you know, it has dogs!). It is such a fun simple game to learn and the solo play is so easy and makes it so fun to play. The artistry is beautiful and I have highly enjoyed playing!
I acquired this game because we’re big dog fans in the family. The artwork and pieces are lovely (especially the adorable dog meeples). I’m playing it solo as well, as am impressed with the clever solo mechanics. A great little 25 minute game.
